Newlywed couple gives 'gold bars' as wedding souvenirs

A newlywed couple went viral on social media after giving "24 karat gold bars" as wedding souvenirs to their guests and online viewers.

According to Mark Salazar’s “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, the couple’s video went viral after the bride held an “online giving” of gold bars to the viewers.

“Mamimigay po ako sa mga lucky viewers ngayong gabi ng 24 karat gold bars. Mag-comment lang kayo. Walang mechanics,” bride Aeriel Tolentino said in the video.

(We will be giving away 24 karat gold bars to lucky viewers tonight. Just comment, there are no mechanics.)

The couple, Aeriel and Emerson Tolentino were surprised and did not expect that the video would go viral.

“Nakakanerbyos at the same time overwhelming talaga samin mag-asawa kasi hindi namin inexpect talaga na magvaviral yung video. Talagang nag enjoy lang kami kasi syempre wedding yun. Tagal namin hinintay two years,” Aeriel said.

(We were nervous and at the same time overwhelmed. We didn't really expect that the video would go viral. We just enjoyed our wedding because we waited for two years.)

The couple said their wedding will not be remarkable without the support of their online buyers.

“Yung viewers namin naisip namin bigyan sila ng gold souvenirs dahil  parte  sila ng buhay namin,” Aeriel said.

(As for our viewers, we thought of giving them gold souvenirs because they are part of our lives.)

However, Aeriel said that the souvenirs were not literally gold bars.

“Yung gold bar na pinamigay namin real 24 karats pero sheet, parang super nipis, bar siya na acrylic na nakalagay sa cute na lagayan na 24 karat pero sheet po talaga siya kumbaga hindi siya nasasangla,” Aeriel said.

(The gold bar souvenir is a real 24 karat but in sheet, like super thin, it's an acrylic bar placed in a cute 24 karat case but it's really a sheet so it can’t be mortgaged.)

The newlywed couple said they were also worried about their security as  people might think that what they gave were blocks of gold.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA Integrated News
