Malaysia PM Anwar arrives in Philippines for official visit

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday for a two-day official visit.

Several officials of the government welcomed Anwar at the Villamor Airbase, according to Mao dela Cruz’s Super Radyo dzBB report on Wednesday afternoon.

He was accompanied by Malaysia's Foreign Affairs minister, Home Affairs minister, and the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development minister.

Anwar is set to meet with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to discuss bilateral cooperation in security and digital economy between the Philippines and Malaysia.

He will also deliver a public lecture and have other engagements, Philippine officials and diplomats earlier said.

This will be Anwar’s first visit to the Philippines in his current capacity since he was sworn in as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister on November 24, 2022. —Richa Noriega/KG, GMA Integrated News
