SWS: One out of four Filipino Muslims pray Salah 5 times daily


One out of every four Filipino Muslims pray the Salah five times daily, according to a recent survey of the Fourth Quarter Social Weather Stations (SWS) National Survey.

The December 10 to 14, 2022 National Survey asked the Muslim respondents how many times they pray the Salah, which are the prayers performed by Muslims five times daily at prescribed times.

The results showed that 26% of Filipino Muslims prayed the Salah five times daily, 32% a few times daily, 38% sometimes, 3% only during Ramadan, and 2% more than a year ago.

On attending religious services, 71% of Muslims participate in religious services once a week or more than once a week, 9% said two or more times a month, 6% said once a month, 1% said 2 to 11 times a year, 7% said once a year, and 3% said never.

Meanwhile, 96% of Muslims said they personally went to places of worship in the past three months, and 3% did not attend any religious services.

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults aged 18 and above nationwide. Around 6% of the respondents were Muslims, SWS noted. —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
