Two arrested for estafa over investments in hauling, selling scrap
Two persons who allegedly sought investments for the hauling of scrap materials from a geothermal plant in Tiwi, Albay have been arrested by police.
According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", John Eric Dela Cruz and Jesse Arguelles were arrested on warrants of arrest for estafa.
The complainants alleged that the two ran away with their money after they were convinced to invest in the hauling and selling of scrap from the power plant.
Police Colonel Olivia Sagaysay of the CIDG-DSOU said the suspects looked for investors for the hauling and sale of the scrap materials but it turned out that they were no longer at the site.
According to CIDG, the suspects persuaded the victims using documents from a former partner who now stood among the complainants.
“Ang ginagamit nila yung award sakin nuong 2012, binigyan ko siya ng SPA para i-verify sa PSALM kung may natitira pa, kaya lang walang order ang PSALM, nanghihingi na sila ng pera, kawawa mga biktima,” retired Major Bonifacio Aforo said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
