Czech PM vows help for OFWs, PH aviation sector


Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala on Monday vowed help for the aviation sector and for Filipino workers in finding employment in his country.

"I fully support the talks about delivering transport aircrafts and other projects in aviation sector," Fiala said during the joint press statement held inside the Palace.

"Our company ?eská zbrojovka offers extensive modernization to the Philippine Armed Forces. This project also includes transfer of technology," Fiala added.

Aside from helping the country's transport sector, Fiala said the Czech Republic is also considering expanding migration for Filipino workers.

"We also highly appreciate the Philippine system of the recruiting of workers for work in other countries. Czech companies are very satisfied with Philippine citizens. We are discussing the possibilities to expand migration for work," he said.

Fiala also mentioned that his country could aid the Philippines when it comes to agriculture.

"I am glad that we are cooperating into area of agriculture. Czech companies provide technological assistance and expertise to the Philippine National Dairy Authority. Czech companies can also offer technologies for storing raw milk and its processing," he said.

Fiala said part of his delegation was a number of businessmen which could enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially on various areas.

"I have delegation of Czech businessmen with me here in Philippines. We hope that our visit will be a new start for successful cooperation between our companies," he said.

"Our companies offer solutions in many fields, many areas, agriculture, aviation, transportation, or space technologies. Defense and security cooperation is very important in our relations," he added.

Fiala is in the Philippines for a three-day official visit. He is the second head of state to visit the country under the Marcos administration.

"[The] Philippines is the starting point of my 10-day Asian tour. It shows that your country and your region are very important for the Czech Republic," Fiala said.

Fiala also recalled the countries' relationship, which has been existing for a long time. He noted the friendship of national hero Jose Rizal and Czech Professor Ferdinand Blumentritt.

"Jose Rizal and Czech Professor Ferdinand Blumentritt, they’re friends long before that. Our soldiers also defended Manila side-by-side during the Second World War. And I’m proud that the Czech people have the Philippines win their freedom," Fiala said.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
