PSA: Only Manila-bound PhilIDs affected by Manila Central Post Office fire
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Monday that only Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) IDs to be delivered in the City of Manila were affected in the Manila Central Post Office fire.
In a statement, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Claire Dennis Mapa said that the PSA was coordinating with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) to determine how many PhilIDs were affected by the fire that hit the national historical landmark late Sunday night.
He said that the PSA would replace affected PhilIDs for free.
“Based on the initial information provided by the PHLPost, only PhilIDs for delivery in the City of Manila were affected by the fire,” Mapa said.
“We assure the public that the PhilIDs affected by the fire shall be replaced by the PSA at no additional cost to concerned registered persons, following protocols set by the PSA for such scenarios,” he added.
The National Statistician clarified that PhilIDs to be delivered by PHLPost were sorted and stored at the PHLPost Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City and “were unaffected by the fire.”
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Monday that seven people were injured in the Manila Central Post Office fire, with property damage valued at around P300 million. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
