PH logs 1,637 new cases; active cases drop to 16,053
The Philippines’ COVID-19 cases continued to decline while the number of recoveries increased, data from the Department of Health (DOH) indicated Monday.
Latest DOH bulletin showed the country posted a total of 1,637 fresh COVID-19 infections— the lowest number of cases in five days, according to GMA News Research.
It also marks the third straight day of declining cases and the second straight day of more than 1,000 but less than 2,000 coronavirus infections.
The country’s active infections likewise dropped to 16,053 from the 16,422 registered on Sunday. This is the lowest number of active infections in five days and the third straight day of lessening active cases.
However, it is the fifth straight day the country has more than 16,000 active cases.
The total nationwide caseload is now at 4,129,265, DOH data showed.
The number of recoveries rose by 2,006 to 4,046,746 from Sunday’s 4,044,740 — marking the third straight day with more new recoveries than new cases. The death toll stands at 66,466.
Metro Manila reported the highest number of new cases in two weeks with 9,754. It was followed by CALABARZON with 5,659; Central Luzon with 2,056; Western Visayas with 1,424; and Bicol Region with 925.
The country’s bed occupancy remains at low risk with 21.1% or 5,327 of the total 25,298 hospital beds occupied and 19,971 vacant.
4,781 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday. 381 submitted its test results. —Sundy Locus/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
