National IDs issued now over 65M —PSA

More than 65 million physical and virtual national identification cards (IDs) have been issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as of May 2023.

In a statement, the agency said it had printed a total of 65,050,382 million Philippine Identification System (PhilIDs) and ePhilIDs for the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

Of the figures, 31,204,200 were delivered as of May 19, while 33,846,182 ePhilIDs were issued as of May 20.

"In less than a month, more than five million registered persons are included in the growing number of Filipinos with PhilIDs and ePhilIDs and may now enjoy the benefits of being registered to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys)," said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician, and Civil Registrar General.

“Makakaasa ang ating mga kababayan na patuloy ang PSA sa pagpupursige na maihatid ang PhilID at ePhilID sa bawat registered person sa bansa,” he added.

The agency noted that PSA field offices are on the frontlines for ePhilID issuance at registration centers and its house-to-house and plaza-type distribution nationwide.

PhilSys-registered persons are encouraged to visit https://appt.philsys.gov.ph to check if they can claim their ePhilIDs. Registered persons who have received an official text message from the PSA may also download a PDF copy of the ePhilID on their mobile devices.

The PSA has also started reaching out to registered individuals with front-facing photos in their PhilID that were peeled off for replacement. —Sundy Locus/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
