DOH records 1,131 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 12,716


A total of 1,131 new COVID-19 cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, pushing the nationwide caseload to 4,152,210.

This is the second straight day of increasing cases after the DOH logged 898 new cases on Wednesday, according to GMA Integrated News Research.

Meanwhile, the country's active cases slightly increased to 12,716.

The recovery tally increased to 4,073,013 and the country’s death toll remained at 66,481.

In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases with 5,117, followed by Calabarzon with 3,661, Central Luzon with 2,228, Western Visayas with 1,462, and Cagayan Valley with 1,004.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the highest number of new cases with 1,294, followed by Cavite with 1,226, Iloilo with 869, Bulacan with 820, and Laguna with 803.

A total of 6,948 individuals were tested on Wednesday, and 317 testing laboratories submitted data.

As of Wednesday, the Philippines' bed occupancy rate was 20%, with 5,056 occupied and 20,176 vacant beds. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
