BI records increase in passengers at NAIA
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday announced that it recorded a 10% increase in passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the NAIA Terminal 3 records around 17,000 departures and 16,000 arrivals daily.
The BI said 1,100 passengers departed while 1,500 passengers arrived on Friday morning.
"I have instructed the BI T3 terminal head to ensure that all counters are fully manned to service travelers. But evidently, more space is needed for us to be able to install new counters and add more people," he said in a statement.
Tansingco said 59 officers from Terminal 2 are also expected to be transferred to Terminal 3.
"We have requested airport authorities to construct additional counters, and we are thankful for their commitment that this will be completed by the last quarter of the year," he said. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
