Philippines registers 878 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 11,644


The Philippines recorded 878 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the nationwide caseload to 4,154,190, according to the Department of Health.

After two days, the number of new cases was below 1,000.

Currently, the number of active cases is 11,644, while the recovery tally has jumped to 4,076,065.

The country's death toll remained at 66,481.

In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases with 4,439, followed by Calabarzon with 3,132, Central Luzon with 2,108, Western Visayas with 1,369, and Cagayan Valley with 1,006.

With 1,121 new cases in the past 14 days, Quezon City led all cities and provinces, followed by Cavite (1,019), Iloilo (823), Bulacan (748), and Laguna (707).

A total of 6,688 individuals were tested on Friday, and 316 testing laboratories submitted data.

As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 19.7%, with 4,962 occupied and 20,223 vacant beds. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
