Philippines logs 727 new COVID-19 cases; active tally drops to 10,761


The Philippines on Monday recorded 727 new COVID-19 cases, marking the fourth straight day of decreasing infections.

The fresh coronavirus cases are the lowest in six days, according to GMA News Research. This is also the third straight day when there are more than 700 new coronavirus cases.

Latest bulletin from the Department of Health (DOH) showed the country’s active tally decreased from Sunday’s 11,202 to 10,761 — the lowest number of active infections since May 6, 2023.

This marked the first time in over a month of below 11,000 active infections.

The country’s total caseload is now at  4,155,758 while the total recoveries are at 4,078,516. The death toll remains at 66,481.

Metro Manila remained the region with the highest number of new cases in 14 days with 3,925. It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,730; Central Luzon, with 1,974; Western Visayas, with 1251; and Cagayan Valley with 964.

A total of 3,971 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, June 11, while 385 testing laboratories submitted their results.

Meanwhile, the country’s bed occupancy was at 18.9%.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
