PH logs 468 new COVID-19 cases; active tally falls below 10K
The Philippines registered 468 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, marking the second straight day with fewer than 500 cases.
Based on the Department of Health's latest bulletin, the country's active cases dropped to 9,843 on Wednesday from 10,108 on Tuesday.
This is the first time in 40 days that active cases have fallen below 10,000, according to GMA Integrated News Research.
The nationwide caseload is now 4,156,644, while the recovery tally jumped to 4,080,320.
No new deaths were recorded on Wednesday, retaining the country's death toll at 66,481. This is the eighth straight day of no new deaths.
The National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases in the past two weeks with 3,553, followed by Calabarzon with 2,498, Central Luzon with 1,851, Western Visayas with 1,143, and Cagayan Valley with 920.
Among cities and provinces, Quezon City topped the list with 868 new cases in the past 14 days, followed by Cavite with 847, Iloilo with 676, Bulacan with 599, and Laguna with 562.
The Health Department said that on Tuesday, a total of 6,622 individuals were tested, and 313 testing laboratories submitted data.
COVID-19 bed occupancy in the country stood at 18.7% on Tuesday, with 4,769 occupied and 20,767 vacant beds. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
