COVID-19 positivity rate declines to 8.6% —OCTA

The country's COVID-19 positivity rate declined on Sunday after the health department reported 726 new infections, data from independent monitoring group OCTA Research showed.

According to OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David, the seven-day positivity rate —the percentage of those who test positive out of the total tested—declined to 8.6% from 10.3% the previous day.

This comes as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 726 new cases on Sunday, the highest daily tally in six days.

Moving forward, David said some 400 to 500 new cases are expected to be reported on Monday, June 19, 2023.

The country’s active caseload declined to 8,861 from 9,005 on Saturday. Recoveries grew by 870 to 4,086,967, while total deaths were unchanged at 66,482. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
