Philippine COVID-19 positivity rate falls for 5th straight day
The Philippines’ COVID-19 positivity rate continued to decline for the fifth straight day on Saturday, data from independent monitoring group OCTA Research showed.
According to OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David, the seven day positivity rate — the percentage of those who test positive out of the total tested — stood at 8.2% on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
This is the fifth straight day that the rate declined, following the 8.6% rate on June 23, Friday, and the 8.9% on June 22, Thursday.
This comes as the country reported 464 new infections on Saturday, bringing the country’s total caseload to 4,162,231. This includes 8,353 active cases; 4,087,396 recoveries; and 66,482 deaths.
Moving forward, David said some 400 to 500 new cases are expected on Sunday, June 25, 2023. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
