PNP releases photos of persons of interest in QC shooting of photojournalist

The Quezon City Police District on Wednesday released photos of two persons of interest in the shooting of a photojournalist in Quezon City on June 29

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday released photos of two persons of interest in the shooting of a photojournalist in Quezon City on June 29.

In a press conference, QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III presented to the media the photos obtained from the CCTV footage captured hours before the attack.

According to Torre, the police already have an "idea" about the identities of the persons of interest.

"Alam ko nanunuod sila. So I really think it is best for their interest to just surrender. I think they are outside Metro Manila. Yung iba sa kanila outside Metro Manila," Torre said.

(I know they are watching. So I really think it is best for their interest to just surrender. I think they are outside Metro Manila. Some of them are outside Metro Manila.)

On June 29, Rene Joshua Abiad, a photographer for Remate Online, was in a car with some relatives in Barangay Masambong when another vehicle blocked their way.

A man wearing a black jacket got out of the car and started firing at them before fleeing. A motorcycle rider was also seen serving as a lookout.

The police said six other victims were inside the vehicle, including three minors.

Abiad's four-year-old nephew died after being hit with a bullet in the head during the incident, the QCPD earlier confirmed.

Authorities have already identified five persons of interest in the shooting. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
