PH logs 359 new COVID-19 cases


The Philippines logged 359 fresh COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, latest data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed.

This is a slight increase from Tuesday's 220 new cases which was the lowest in 12 weeks

Active cases, meanwhile, slightly dipped to 6,631.

The total nationwide caseload is now at 4,166,448 while the total number of recoveries is at 4,093,333. 

Recorded deaths stood at 66,484.

Metro Manila remains to have the highest number of newly reported cases with 1,269 in the past two weeks. This is followed by Central Luzon with 865, CALABARZON with 729, Western Visayas with 444 and Cagayan Valley with 418.

Meanwhile, the top cities reported with the most new COVID-19 cases are Quezon City with 342, Cavite with 236, Iloilo with 212, Bulacan with 199 and Cagayan with 186.

Over 6,776 samples were collected and submitted by 313 testing laboratories on Tuesday, while data from Monday reports hospital bed occupancy at 16.7% with over 4,160 occupied beds on over 1,890 available facilities. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
