DOH logs 170 new COVID-19 cases, lowest daily tally since March


The Department of Health registered 170 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, the lowest daily tally since the 165 cases counted on March 28.

The latest figure marked the first time in almost three months that the new daily cases dropped below 200, according to GMA Integrated News Research.

The DOH's latest bulletin also shows that the active tally has decreased to 6,152 from Sunday's 6,437. The nationwide caseload is now at 4,168,437.

Total recoveries climbed by 445 cases to 4,095,791, while the country's death toll increased by 10 to 66,494, after 12 straight days of no new deaths recorded.

In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) was the region with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 1,014 followed by Central Luzon with 728; Calabarzon with 563; Western Visayas with 412; and Cagayan Valley with 380.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City recorded the most new cases in the past 14 days with 262, followed by Iloilo province with 178; Cavite province with 174; Bulacan province with 169; and Cagayan province with 151.

On July 10, 5,593 individuals were tested, while 311 testing labs submitted data.

The current bed occupancy is at 16%, with 3,882 occupied and 10,390 vacant. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
