Luzon, Mindanao roads affected by Egay onslaught — DPWH


The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Wednesday that two roads were rendered impassable and four highways have limited accessibility in Luzon and Mindanao due to Typhoon Egay.

In its report as of 6 a.m., the DPWH said the affected roads were located in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Mindanao (Region XII), and Region IV-B.

The agency said the following roads were closed:

  • Baguio-Bontoc Road, K0347+090 – K0347+180, Mt. Data, Bauko in Mt. Province (to secure public safety)
  • Awang-Upi-Lebak-Kalamansig-Palimbang-Sarangani Road, K1995+450, Barangay Kidayan, Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat (damaged cross drainage and collapsed pavement)

Meanwhile, the following roads have limited access in CAR and Region IV-B.

One lane passable to light vehicles:

  • Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, K0422+898 – K0422+903, Cabaroan, Danglas, Abra (collapsed pavement);
  • Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road, K0313+450 – K0313+470, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet (soil collapse);
  • Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road, K0355+960 – K0355+985, Bokiawan, Hungduan; and K0380+500 – K0380+525, Abatan, Hungduan, Ifugao (soil collapse)

Passable to heavy vehicles:

  • Calapan South Road, K0182+278, Barangay Campaasan, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro (flooded road section)

The DPWH said its quick-response teams were dispatched to expedite emergency repair works and carry out clearing operations so that the affected roads may be reopened and ensure access for government relief efforts. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
