3,031,909 individuals affected by Habagat, Egay, Falcon –NDRRMC


A total of 806,812 families or 3,031,909 individuals were affected by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Typhoons Egay and Falcon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.

In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said the affected persons were from Regions 1, 2, 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, BARMM, CAR, and NCR.

Of those affected, 13,779 families or 51,593 persons were served inside 648 evacuation centers, while 57,985 families or 233,609 persons were served outside evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 17,349 persons from Regions 1, 2, 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Region 6 were preventively evacuated.

The reported casualties remained at 29, two of whom were confirmed. The reported injuries also remained at 165, 152 of whom were confirmed.

Eleven people were reported missing.

A total of 396 road sections and 33 bridges were affected, and the power supply of 266 cities and municipalities were affected, with power restored in 156 localities.

A total of six cities or municipalities from Region 1, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Region 5 had their water supply affected; and 10 cities or municipalities experienced interruptions in their communication lines.

Thirty-eight domestic flights were cancelled, and 145 seaports were affected.

Around 57,190 homes were damaged in Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, Region 8, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, BARMM, and CAR. The estimated cost of damaged houses was P344,000.

The estimated cost of agriculture damage was P2,766,601,432.21 with 108,645 farmers or fisherfolk affected.

Damage to infrastructure rose to P3,631,012,164.44 in Region 1, Region 2, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, Region 8, Region 11, Region 12, BARMM, and CAR.

Classes were suspended in 448 cities and municipalities, and work was suspended in 355 cities and municipalities.

A state of calamity was declared in 232 cities and municipalities in Regions 1, 2, 3 CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and CAR.

Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, Region 11, BARMM, CAR, and NCR were provided P250,492,184.32 in assistance. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
