PSA turns over replacement PhilIDs to Manila Central Post Office
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday it handed over the replacement of Philippine Identification System IDs or PhilIDs affected by the Manila Central Post Office fire last May to the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost).
In a statement, the PSA said a total of 7,352 PhillDs were delivered by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the printing partner of the PSA for the PhillDs, at the PHLPost’s Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
The agency said the turnover was conducted in the presence of personnel from the PSA, BSP, and PHLPost.
"The PSA immediately initiated the reprinting process for the PhillDs affected by the Manila Central Post Office fire," said PSA chief Claire Dennis Mapa.
"We thank the BSP and PHLPost, our partners in the implementation of PhilSys, for their unwavering commitment to swiftly replace the affected PhillDs to ensure that the rightful owners can enjoy the benefits of being PhilSys-registered," he added.
The PSA earlier said that only PhilIDs to be delivered in the City of Manila were affected by the fire incident.
The statistics agency reiterated that other lDs for delivery were unaffected by the fire incident as these are sorted and stored at the CMEC.
The PSA said the replacement and turnover of PhillDs were at no cost to affected registered persons and would be delivered by PHLPost to the address provided during PhilSys registration.
The agency added that it continues to work with the BSP and PHLPost to accelerate printing and delivery of PhillDs to registered persons nationwide.
As of August 4, 2023, 43,382,725 PhillDs had already been dispatched by the BSP, of which 36,472,753 had already been delivered by PHLPost. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
