Philippines logs 1,164 COVID-19 cases from Sep. 18–24, 2023
The Philippines registered 1,164 new coronavirus infections in the week from September 18 to September 24, 2023, the latest Department of Health (DOH) weekly bulletin indicated.
According to the DOH, the country’s average daily cases currently stands at 166, up 13% from the daily case average recorded from September 11 to September 17.
Of the new cases, 10 or 0.87% were tagged as severe and critical.
The DOH data also showed there were 11 verified COVID-19-related deaths monitored in the country since last month. Of the figures, six occurred between September 11 to September 24.
“Of the 11 deaths, nine occurred in September 2023, and two in August 2023,” it said.
Meanwhile, the latest bulletin showed that 260 severe and critical cases were admitted in hospitals due to COVID-19 as of September 24. This is 8.7% of the total COVID-19 admissions.
At least 189 or 13.2% of the 1,432 0 intensive care unit (ICU) beds were also used, while 2,211 or 16.8% of the 13,180 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were occupied.
As for vaccination, the agency said it would still not be able to generate the latest numbers “due to the ongoing migration of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) by the DICT (Department Of Information And Communications Technology).” — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
