DHSUD creates technical working group for National Shelter Month

The Department of Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has created a technical working group (TWG) in preparation for the National Shelter Month in October, an official said Friday.

DHSUD also said that several activities will be held for the month-long celebration.

“Kaugnay po nito marami po kaming activities na iluunsad kasama ang key shelter agencies [in line with this, we will launch many activities with our key shelter agencies],” said DHSUD Undersecretary Randy Escolango during an interview on Balita Ngayon.

Escolango has been appointed as the TWG chairperson.

He said the key agencies that form the TWG are the National Housing Authority, Pag-IBIG Fund, the Human Settlement Adjudication Commission, the Social Housing Finance Corporation, and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation.

Escolango also named the agency’s international partners on humanitarian response such as the International Organization for Migration and the Catholic Relief Services and Shelter Cluster.

The Undersecretary said that the celebration will kick off on October 2 at the DHSUD Central Office and regional offices.

“Sa isang buong linggo [for one week], from October 2 to October 6, magkakaroon po tayo ng exhibits [we will hold exhibits],” Escolango said.

“May mga booth po doon sa aming central office, pupunta po sila doon. Pag punta ng mga tao doon, they can accommodate itong mga tao, paliliwanag nila ‘yung kanilang mga mandato at kung may mga tanong ho ‘yung ating mga mamamayan ay kaagad nilang maaksyunan,” he later added.

[We will have booths there at the central office that they can visit. They will accommodate them and explain their mandates and if the citizens have concerns, they can immediately take action.]

The DHSUD previously said it would launch the building of 5.5 million housing units across the country by 2028— 500,000 short of its target by the end of the Marcos administration. —Joahna Lei Casilao/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
