Marcos pays tribute to teachers, vows admin to work harder in improving their lives
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday vowed to continue addressing the concerns of the education sector, including the teachers.
Marcos made the commitment as he paid tribute to the country's teachers whom he branded as "heroes of children's education."
"As National Teachers' Month comes to a close, we pay tribute to the heroes of children’s education! As we thank you for all that you do, we also continue to work harder to improve your lives," Marcos said in a Facebook post.
"The Marcos-Duterte administration will remain hard at work in addressing the needs of our schools, our teachers, and our students," he added.
Marcos, together with Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, attended a concert honoring Filipino teachers at the Malacañang complex on Sunday evening.
This was part of the celebration for the National Teachers’ Month.
With the theme, "Konsyerto sa Palasyo: Para sa Mahal Nating mga Guro," the event at the Kalayaan Grounds aimed to show appreciation for educators and their immense dedication and hard work.
The concert featured inspiring stories of teachers who have gone the extra mile to mold and shape their students' futures amid the pandemic, the Department of Education said.
In his second State of the Nation Address, Marcos highlighted the DepEd’s MATATAG Agenda which aims to implement resilient reforms in the curriculum, education services, and provision of facilities, learner wellbeing, and teacher support programs. —KG, GMA Integrated News
