Comelec chair Garcia casts vote for BSKE 2023

INDANG, Cavite - Commission on Elections Chairman George Garcia cast his vote early Monday for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections at Banaba Cerca Integrated School in Indang, Cavite.

Garcia is among the approximately 2,000 registered voters in Barangay Banaba Cerca.

He arrived at the polling center at around 7:19 a.m.

In a chance interview, Garcia said he voted for BSKE candidates whom he had interaction with. Some of them were his classmates and childhood friends.

Calabarzon Regional Election Director Monalisa Mamukid was at the polling center to oversee the elections at Banaba Cerca Integrated School.

According to the Comelec, approximately 68 million barangay voters and 24 million SK voters are expected to flock to polling areas for the BSKE 2023.

Voting began at 7 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. at polling precincts nationwide.

However, early voting was pilot-tested from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. for senior citizens, persons with disability, and pregnant women in Muntinlupa City and Naga City. -KG, GMA Integrated News
