Mauling case vs Borgy Manotoc dismissed

MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig Fiscals Office on Thursday dismissed the charge of serious physical injuries filed against model Borgy Manotoc in relation to a brawl he allegedly participated at the car park of a posh bar in April last year. GMA’s Joseph Morong reported in 24 Oras that Taguig State Prosecutor Ricardo Estrabo dismissed the case after Carlo Pardo de Tavera Brown, the alleged victim, failed to present witnesses and evidence that will prove Manotoc beat him up in front of the Embassy Bar and Restaurant last April 10, 2007. Also, Estrabo cited that Brown’s medical certificate belied his claim that he was severely beaten by Manotoc and a companion. “His (Brown) medical certificate should’ve shown that hematoma or concussions were inflicted on him, on his face and different parts of the body. However, none appears (in the medical certificate)," Estrabo said. The television report also said a witness came forward to disprove that Manotoc hurt Brown during the scuffle. “She (witness) stated that Borgy was not the one who inflicted the injuries on Brown," Estrabo said. 24 Oras tried contacting Brown’s mother, Mara Pardo de Tavera, but she said they will release a statement Friday. On the other hand, Borgy’s mother, former Ilocos Norte Rep. Imee Marcos, expressed satisfaction over the decision. Marcos is the daughter of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. - GMANews.TV
