SC sets oral arguments for petition vs. Guanzon on Nov. 14
The Supreme Court has set the oral arguments for the petition filed by Duterte Youth Party-List against former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on November 14.
In an advisory released Thursday, the SC said that the oral arguments will be held from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Supreme Court main building.
“Finally, as discussed during the preliminary conference, all parties and their counsels are strictly prohibited from publicly commenting on the issues of these consolidated cases,” the SC said.
This stemmed from the petition filed by the Duterte Youth in June 2022 questioning the Comelec decision allowing the substitution of Guanzon as a nominee of the P3PWD party list.
To recall, the Comelec previously approved via a "majority vote" the request of the party to withdraw the nomination of its original roster namely Grace Yeneza, Ira Paulo Pozon, Marianne Heidi Cruz Fullon, Peter Jonas David, and Lily Grace Tiangco.
The en banc has also "given due course" or granted and approved the new list of nominees that named Guanzon as its first nominee. Rosalie Garcia was named second nominee; Cherrie Belmonte-Lim, third; Donnabel Tenorio, fourth; and Rodolfo Villar Jr. fifth. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
