Philippines logs 173 new COVID-19 cases


The Philippines confirmed 173 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the country's total cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,122,464.

The Department of Health's COVID-19 tracker also showed that active cases increased by 78 to 3,102, the highest total in 20 reporting days, according to the GMA Integrated News Research.

Recoveries rose by 95 cases to 4,052,616, while the death toll remains at 66,746.

The region with the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is the National Capital Region with 603, followed by Calabarzon with 285, Central Luzon with 224, Western Visayas with 112, and Central Visayas with 102.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City reported the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days with 172, followed by Cavite province with 95, Rizal province with 82, and Bulacan province and City of Manila with 65 each.

COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 16.0%, with 3,112 beds occupied—including 1,979 in the ICU—and 16,383 vacant. — BM, GMA Integrated News
