Marcos’ meetings with Musk, Trudeau do not push through

LOS ANGELES, USA - Some of the meetings of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on the sidelines of the 2023 APEC Summit did not push through.

Marcos was supposed to meet Elon Musk, however, it was canceled as the latter was ill.

“No, nagkasakit, he fell ill. He was supposed to come here to San Francisco, marami siyang ka-meeting dapat dito pero binalitaan kami nagkasakit nga kaya wala na muna, which was a missed opportunity. I was really looking forward to it,” Marcos said.

The President added that he still wanted to meet with Musk to discuss technology matters.

“But, we will find ways again to, because we have much to discuss with him in terms of the technologies that we would like for Tesla, for example, to bring to the Philippines. Specifically, battery technology, even a manufacturer of fully electric vehicles, all of these things that we are hoping to be part of in the future,” Marcos said.

Meanwhile, Marcos’ meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also did not push through.

He explained that the APEC session ran late, that was why some of the meetings did not push through.

“Hindi na natuloy because what happened was the session yesterday, ran very late. I think we came out of there one hour behind schedule,” Marcos said.

“So some of the bilateral meetings… in fact the bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping was supposed to be yesterday. But because it ran so long we ran out of time kaya ang nangyari kaninang umaga na lang yung aming naging ano,” he added. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
