GMA News Online, Pinoy MD sa Dobol B win PHA awards

The Philippine Heart Association (PHA) on Thursday night recognized GMA News Online and Pinoy MD sa Dobol B host Connie Sison for their “indelible contribution as prominent allies in the promotion of reliable heart health news from the experts.”

 PHA said the awardees were chosen based on news value, reportorial quality (substance, comprehensive, balanced, originality), storytelling or writing skills, analytical value (capable of reporting a complex issue in a clear and simplified manner), and impact. 

Health reporter Giselle Ombay received the award for GMA News Online, while Pinoy MD sa Dobol B executive producer Mackay Quadra received the award on behalf of Sison. 

PHA president Dr. Ronald Cuyco said the group wanted to recognize the important role of media in disseminating PHA’s advocacies and in promoting a healthy lifestyle to prevent heart diseases. 

 “In some occasions, you helped us lobby and push some heart health-related issues and policies that the PHA is advocating,” Cuyco said in his speech. 

 This was the second consecutive year that GMA News Online and Sison received the PHA award. Other awardees of the night were singer Martin Nievera and “King of Talk” Boy Abunda. —Giselle Ombay/LDF, GMA Integrated News
