Malacañang opens door to public for Christmas season

Malacañang has opened its door to the public for the Christmas season, according to Raffy Tima's report on 24 Oras on Monday.

Children from nearby barangays enjoyed the carnival rides installed at Malacañang's Kalayaan Grounds.

Entrance to the area is free as long as visitors will undergo security check by the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Aside from kids, students from nearby universities and colleges also enjoyed the various carnival rides and attractions.

"It's going back to the time of FM (Ferdinand Marcos Sr.), of the time of his father when they opened up the Palace to the people because he also said this is the Palace of the people," said Dina Tantoco, deputy social secretary.

"So dapat i-open natin ang Malacañang during that time before Christmas," she added.

The carnival in Malacañang will be open until December 23 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aside from the carnival, food stalls were also installed in the area.

Kalayaan Grounds is also open for those attending the traditional Simbang Gabi. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
