The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday logged 4 new cases of firework-related injuries impacting minors aged 8 to 12 bringing the total to 8.

From the 8 cases, 3 involved “Boga”, 2 cases o\f “Piccolo”, 1 involved “5-star”, 1 involved “Baby Dynamite” and 1 involved “Goodbye, Philippines.”

Rhe DOH reminded parents to be vigilant and prevent their children from using fireworks.

“Police, Mayors, and Barangay Captains can stop the sale and use of illegal fireworks and promote community fireworks display instead of household use. Parents should watch over their children and lead by example by using noise-making alternatives,” said DOH in their bulletin.

“The DOH, on orders of President Marcos, can and will take care of trauma and injuries; however, the family and community is still the best place to start saving lives,” the statement read. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
