DOH: Accessible, adaptable healthcare service via UHC Law

The Department of Health (DOH) is pushing to make healthcare services accessible and adaptable to all Filipinos through the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa focused on the UHC Law in his first 100 days in office.

“Dapat ramdam ng bawat Pilipino ang UHC,” Herbosa said.

(Every Filipino should feel the impact of the UHC Law.)

Passed in 2019, the landmark law guarantees all Filipinos equal access to quality and affordable goods and services in healthcare.

Under the law, all Filipino citizens are automatically enrolled into the National Health Insurance Program as direct contributors or those who have the capacity to pay premiums, and indirect contributors sponsored by the government such as indigents and senior citizens.

In October, Herbosa said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has approved the creation of a coordinating council for the implementation of the UHC Law.—RF, GMA Integrated News
