Foreign residents urged to get reentry permits amid Lunar New Year travel

The Bureau of Immigration on Tuesday advised foreign residents to process their reentry permits at BI offices before leaving the country for Lunar New Year trips.

A 24/7 one-stop shop is also available at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 for departing passengers who have yet to secure reentry permits.

The announcement was made in line with the anticipated surge in outbound travelers, especially Chinese nationals.

"Per immigration regulations, foreign nationals registered with the BI, holding valid immigrant and non-immigrant visas, including permanent residents, foreign students, and workers with valid ACR I-cards, are mandated to obtain exit and reentry permits for each departure from the country,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

Obtaining permits in advance reduces processing time, giving passengers more relaxation time before their flights, he added. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
