Marcos prays for King Charles' fast recovery after cancer diagnosis

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. extended his well wishes to King Charles on Friday after the British monarch was diagnosed with cancer.

"Sending my heartfelt best wishes to King Charles and Queen Camilla. The Philippines is with the United Kingdom in praying for the King's swift and full recovery," Marcos wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles would postpone his public engagements as he was set to undergo treatment due to cancer.

Charles, 75, who became king in September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, has begun a series of treatments, the palace said, adding he was looking forward to returning to full-time duties as soon as possible.

The cancer revelation comes after Charles spent three nights in the hospital last month, where he underwent a corrective procedure for a benign enlarged prostate.

According to a Reuters report, Queen Camila, the monarch's wife, said the king was doing "extremely well."

"He's doing extremely well under the circumstances. He's very touched by all of the letters and the messages the public have been sending from everywhere. That's very cheering," Queen Camila was quoted in the report as saying. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
