PhilHealth: Increased benefits available only in accredited facilities

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Monday reminded its members that the increase in the coverage rates of its benefit packages is only available in accredited hospitals across the country.

PhilHealth Acting Vice President for Corporate Affairs Group Rey Baleña said members are covered by the state health insurer and could therefore avail of the benefit packages if they get admitted in health facilities for a condition requiring hospitalization.

“Sa kasalukuyan naman ay meron tayong over 12,000 na accredited healthcare partners nationwide. Kung meron mang hindi accredited, napaka-konti niyan,” he said in an Unang Balita interview.

(Currently, we have over 12,000 accredited healthcare partners nationwide. There are only a few facilities that are not yet accredited.)

In November 2023, PhilHealth announced that the rates of its benefit packages would increase up to 30% to lessen the out-of-pocket expenses of Filipinos availing of healthcare services using PhilHealth.

This increased benefit rates took effect starting February 14, 2024.

PhilHealth also increased the premium or member’s contribution to 5% this year in accordance with the Universal Health Care law. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
