Marcos: Mom Imelda to leave hospital on Thursday
BERLIN—Former First Lady Imelda Marcos is scheduled to leave from the hospital on Thursday, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said.
At a news briefing with members of the Philippine media here, Marcos said his mother is getting better.
"She’s scheduled to come out, I think, on Thursday," Marcos said.
Marcos said his mother's fever was gone. He said the doctors wanted her to stay in the hospital until her course of antibiotics was finished.
He said the former first lady is in good spirits and already wants to go places.
"The usual na good sign. Gusto nang umuwi, nirereklamo ‘yung pagkain sa ospital... marami nang gustong puntahan, marami nang gusto," Marcos said.
(She's having the usual good signs. She already wants to go home, complaining about the food in the hospital... wants to go places, wants a lot of things.)
“So kilala niyo naman ang mother ko. Ang pinakamahirap sa kaniya ‘yung walang ginagawa," he added.
(You know my mother. It's difficult for her to do nothing.)
"Medyo ‘yun nandun na tayo ngayon and as I said that’s a good sign. So I look forward to seeing her when we get back, back on her feet and out of the hospital,” Marcos said.
(That's where we are now and as I said that's a good sign. So I look forward to seeing her when we get back, back on her feet and out of the hospital.)
Marcos on March 5 said his mother was "in good spirits" even as she suffered "slight pneumonia."
"I just spoke with my mother’s doctors. She is suffering from slight pneumonia and is running a fever," Marcos said in a statement from Melbourne, where he attended the Australia-ASEAN Summit.
"She has been put on a course of antibiotics and the doctors are confident that this will relieve her fever. She is in good spirits, has no difficulty breathing and is resting well," he added.
Marcos thanked the public for their concern and prayers for his mother.
"Inospital na namin [for] close monitoring... Suspected pneumonia as she has been having fever [and] cough on [and] off. Given her age, we [have to] take [maximum] precautions," Senator Imee Marcos said then.
(We brought her to the hospital for close monitoring.)
