Marcos meets Czech president Pavel, gets arrival honors
PRAGUE—President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Czech Republic President Petr Pavel met at the Prague Castle Courtyard II.
Marcos was accorded with arrival honors after Pavel welcomed him. The Czech leader gave First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta flowers.
Other Philippine officials at the ceremonies included Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Migrant Workers officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual, and Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil.
Marcos is scheduled to have a working lunch with Czech officials Senate President Miloš Vystr?il and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
The Philippine leader will also have a meeting with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
The two countries are expected to sign a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of labor consultation mechanisms, which aims to elevate cooperation between the Philippines and the Czech Republic for the safe and orderly migration of Filipino workers.
The Joint Communique will also provide a higher level of protection of their rights and welfare.
The Philippines and Czech Republic will commemorate its 50th bilateral ties since its establishment on October 5, 1973. —NB, GMA Integrated News
