4 sex convicts barred from PH entry, says BI

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted four sex offenders from entering the country in March.

According to a statement on Thursday, the American national was barred from entering the country through the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Mar. 16 after he was found to have one count of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old minor at a US district court in Michigan.

Another American national was blocked from entry at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Mar. 22.  He was found to be convicted in 2008 for one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct after he was accused of having sexual relations with a minor female.

More recently, a British national, who was convicted for possession of indecent images of children, was also prevented from getting in the country on Good Wednesday, while another American sex offender  was intercepted on Maundy Thursday.  He was convicted for predatory sexual assault of an 11-year-old in 1989.

All four sex offenders were immediately included in the immigration blacklist after being denied entry to the country. Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
