OP mourns death of SEC Commissioner Hubert Guevara

The Office of the President on Friday expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones of Securities and Exchange Commissioner and former Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Atty. Hubert Dominic Guevara.

Guevara, who passed away earlier in the day, would be remembered for his service to Filipinos, according to the OP.

''Former SDES Guevara will be remembered for his spirit, dedication, and exemplary service to the Filipino people. He will remain fondly in the memory of all who had the privilege of working with him and calling him a friend,'' the OP said in a statement.

In a separate statement, Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos said Guevara was a genuine public servant.

"Isa kang tunay na kaibigan, mapagmahal sa pamilya at maaasahan sa mahusay na serbisyo," he said.

"Maraming salamat, Atty. Hubert Guevara. Habambuhay na mananatili sa aming puso at isipan ang iyong alaala at kontribusyon sa ating bansa," he added.

After his stint as senior deputy executive secretary, Guevara was appointed a Securities and Exchange commissioner.

He also served as the director of SEC's Compliance and Enforcement Department in 2004. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
