Sandro Marcos shares Mother's Day wish for First Lady Liza

For Mother's Day, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s eldest son has wished that First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos wouldn't get too angry amid the negative publicity that comes the way of the Chief Executive.

In a chance interview, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos said his mother was "not used to being exposed to this kind of publicity."

“I hope huwag siya magalit nang masyado," Sandro told reporters when asked about his Mother's Day wish for the First Lady.

"I understand naman where she's coming from,” he said on the sidelines of the signing of Lakas-CMD and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas of an agreement for an alliance for Eleksyon 2025.

The First Lady had voiced her sentiments on criticisms hurled against President Bongbong Marcos in an online program recently and had received criticisms herself.

I've been in politics long enough to know that that's how the game works. And my dad, same thing," Sandro said.

"It's nothing new. There have always been accusations hurled. There has always been mudslinging. So, that's nothing new. My mother is not quite as used to it as we are, as the both of us,” he added.

“From that interview, I think what you've all seen, is, I guess, one of a wife who is being protective of her husband. So, I think we can sympathize in that sense,” Sandro said.

Sandro refused to comment on statements issued by former President Rodrigo Duterte, who had been vocal against the president and his administration.

“I’m not gonna comment on any statements of any former presidents because I don't think it would be appropriate," Sandro said.

"I still think, given that they are former heads of state, that they should be afforded the same respect that the current head of state should be afforded as well,” he added. —NB, GMA Integrated News
