SSS expedites benefit payments to kin of OFW who died in Dubai flood

The Social Security System (SSS) said Friday it would assist the relatives of the three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who died in the flooding in the United Arab Emirates in April.

SSS president Rolando Macasaet said in a statement that he has directed their concerned local offices to reach out to the families of Jenny Gamboa, Marjorie Saquing-Ancheta, and Dante Casipong to aid them in filing burial and death benefit claims.

“We sympathize with the bereaved families of our kababayans who presumably have drowned after their vehicles got submerged in floodwaters in Dubai. Our branch personnel will help them process their benefit claims until they receive the SSS benefits,” Macasaet said.

Gamboa and Ancheta reportedly died due to suffocation while inside their vehicle during the flood.

Meanwhile, Casipong was with his colleagues when their vehicle reportedly slipped into a sinkhole.

The remains of the three OFWs were already brought back home in early May.
