Over 100 show cause orders issued vs license plate dealers -LTO
Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Atty. Vigor Mendoza said Tuesday that more than 100 show cause orders were issued against dealers asking them to explain why there was a delay in the release of license plates.
''Today we issued around over a hundred show cause orders to dealers to explain, bakit hindi nila nabigay iyong mga plaka sa ating mga motorista. And we will continue to discipline our ranks, kasama rin iyong mga LTO na who will not comply with the five day requirement,'' Mendoza said at a Palace press briefing.
''Ang amin namang commitment sa ating mga dealer, pag-submit ninyo sa amin ng mga dokumento ninyo, within five days, kailangan ilabas po namin iyong palaka, ORCR, at RFID,'' Mendoza added.
Mendoza warned that the dealers could be penalized if they were remiss in their duties to release the license plates.
''Opo, puwede ho natin pasarado iyong dealer na iyon, regardless of who dealer that is. Kung talagang ayaw niyang sumunod at patuloy ang violation on the timeline sa pag-deliver ng plates ay papasarado na po natin iyan,'' the LTO chief said.
Mendoza assured the public that there would no longer be a backlog in releasing driver's license cards and plates starting this July.
In October, the LTO said it was producing a million license plates per month amid its backlog of 80,000 plates at the time. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
