Marcos hails LTO for addressing zero backlog on license plates, cards

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. praised the Land Transportation Office (LTO) as the agency is en route to achieving a zero backlog when it comes to license plates and cards.

In a sectoral meeting with the officials of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTO at the Malacañang Palace, Marcos said the programs of the transportation agencies has improved compared from last year, including the issuance of license plates.

“We have finally paid attention to the problem. So, I’m glad to see that the motor vehicles – ‘yung four-wheeled vehicles were okay,” Marcos said.

For his part, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza said the agency has already addressed the backlog for the current demand of license plates except for its distribution.

Mendoza said most of the license plates are still in the possession of dealers. He said 3.6 million cards have already been delivered as of April 30.

“We have the remaining cards. Out of the 3.6 million delivered, we have still on hand 1.6 million. So, the supply of the cards is continuing right now and we continue to deliver it downstairs to our district offices,” he said.

Mendoza said more than 100 show cause orders were issued against dealers asking them to explain why there was a delay in the release of license plates.—RF, GMA Integrated News
