47 NAIA flights delayed due to 'technical issues'

More than 40 flights arriving and departing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were delayed on Monday after its air traffic management center suffered “technical issues” with its software.

According to Mark Salazar’s 24 Oras report, the software issue affected NAIA’s radar system, prompting delays to 47 flights in the airport’s four terminals.

At around 1:30 p.m., Cebu Pacific advised its passengers on the delayed flights.

Air Asia likewise issued an advisory after the air management center problem impacted five domestic and one international flights.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines told its passengers to check the status of their flights first before checking in at the airport.

The Manila International Airport Authority said  a total of 47 flights were delayed due to the issue, of which, 38 were for departure and nine were arriving flights.

Normal operations returned at past 2 p.m.—Sundy Locus/RF, GMA Integrated News
