Angat Dam level continues to dip below minimum operating level

The Angat Dam’s water level dropped further below the minimum operating level on Sunday, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Angat Dam’s water level slightly dipped to 178.80 meters on Sunday morning from 178.89 meters on Saturday.

Angat Dam needed 1100 millimeters of rainfall to reach a normal high water level of 210 meters.

The dam's minimum operating level is 180 meters.

The country has been experiencing inclement conditions since Saturday due to Tropical Storm Aghon.

The National Water Resources Board had said that when Angat Dam’s water level dipped below 180 meters, water releases would be prioritized for municipal use, irrigation use, and river maintenance.

Angat Dam provides around 90% of the potable water in Metro Manila, Rizal, and portions of Cavite and Bulacan.

The water levels of the San Roque, Magat, and Ambuklao Dams also declined while the La Mesa, Ipo, Pantabangan, Caliraya, and Binga dams water level rose. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
