Heavy to intense rains are being experienced in some cities in Metro Manila and in eight provinces in Luzon on Saturday.

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 3:48 p.m., state weather bureau PAGASA said that the downpour with lightning and strong winds may persist within two hours in the following areas:

  • Metro Manila (Paranaque, Muntinlupa, Taguig)
  • Zambales (Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Botolan, Cabangan)
  • Tarlac (San Jose, Capas, Mayantoc, San Clemente)
  • Bulacan (Dona Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, San Ildefonso)
  • Quezon Province (Real, Mauban)
  • Laguna (Siniloan, Pangil, Pakil)
  • Cavite (Naic, Tanza)
  • Batangas (Malvar, Santo Tomas, Rosario)
  • Nueva Ecija (General Tinio, Gapan, Penaranda)

PAGASA also said that moderate to heavy rains are expected over Pampanga, Bataan, and Rizal in the next two hours.

Residents in these areas were warned against possible flash floods and landslides.

While PAGASA already declared the onset of the rainy season, state meteorologists said the La Niña phenomenon is expected at the last quarter of the year. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
