Marcos: Motorists to enjoy 30 toll-free days in CAVITEX
Motorists could enjoy 30 toll-free days at the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (CAVITEX) soon, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Friday, citing a proposal from the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).
Marcos bared this as he graced three major events for CAVITEX — the groundbreaking ceremony of the CAVITEX-CALAX Link, the groundbreaking of CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B, and the inauguration of the CAVITEX C5 Link Sucat Interchange (Segment 2).
"So, I now invite my fellow Filipinos to take advantage of our expressways. Experience firsthand the ease and convenience that these roads will bring to our daily lives,” Marcos said in his speech.
"This is especially so after receiving the good news that the PRA or the Philippine Reclamation Authority, as operator of the CAVITEX, proposed to suspend the collection of toll fees for all types of vehicles passing through the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway in Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor, and Kawit for thirty days,” he added.
Marcos did not mention a date but directed the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) "to ensure the immediate implementation" of PRA's proposal "for the benefit of the riding and the transport public."
"We welcome this call and thank the PRA for its initiative to help mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs to our motorists," the President said.
According to the MPT South Corporate Communication, the CAVITEX C5 Link Sucat Interchange will be opened to the public beginning 6 p.m. of Friday, June 21. It said that for a limited time, motorists will get to enjoy the segment for free.
These projects, undertaken by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), mark the significant step towards improving connectivity and fostering economic growth between Region IV-A and Metro Manila.
Dubbed as CLink, the CAVITEX-CALAX Link will span 1.3 kilometers with 2x2 lanes, linking MPTC's toll road networks in the South — the CAVITEX and the ongoing Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
The target completion of the project is by the middle of 2025, in alignment with the full operations of CALAX.
Meanwhile, the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B will complete the ongoing CAVITEX C5 Link by 2025, spanning 2 kilometers to connect CAVITEX Parañaque in the West and C5 Road Taguig in the East.
The President said the travel time from CAVITEX R1 Expressway Section to SLEX/C5 Road would greatly be reduced from 40 minutes to 10 minutes due to the project.
On the other hand, the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 2 is expected to provide enhanced travel efficiency and a smoother commute for thousands of motorists in the southern part of Metro Manila.
Marcos said the segment would benefit around 23,000 vehicles a day. The President said this would enhance the travel efficiency and ease commutes for the citizens.
''And I was just mentioning when that figure came out, I said, 'maliit 'yan,' Before you know it, that 23,000 motorists that we are estimating for now, that will fill up very quickly as soon as they see the advantages of travelling on this --- really what is the bypass and circular route around the city,'' he said.—KBK/AOL, GMA Integrated News
