Marcos amends proclamation transferring Tondo lot to DHSUD
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. issued a proclamation reserving a 21,872-square-meter lot in Tondo, Manila for the ownership of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
In a statement on Wednesday, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Marcos on June 21 issued Proclamation No. 610, which amends Proclamation No. 96 (s. 2001).
“Proclamation No. 610 was issued by the President on June 21 upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR),” the PCO said.
“It amends Proclamation No. 96 (s. 2001) by excluding a certain portion of the land, identified as Lot 4-A, Csd-00-003715, located in Tondo, Manila, allowing DHSUD to own it and carry out urban development subject to final ground survey,” it added.
Under the previous proclamation issued in September 2001, the Parola Estate in Tondo was declared open for disposition to its occupants, subject to private rights and survey.
The old proclamation also declared the responsibility of the DENR - National Capital Region for conducting surveys and providing necessary amenities.
Under Marcos’s new proclamation, the PCO said the DENR Secretary is authorized to issue the corresponding Special Patent covering the area reserved for DHSUD’s township development projects.
This also creates a Project Inter-Agency Committee (PIAC) chaired by DHSUD, with the DENR and the City Government of Manila as members.
According to the PCO, the Committee “shall formulate and issue the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Proclamation, and identify the beneficiaries of the housing component of the township development.” —VAL, GMA Integrated News
