DSWD distributes P200M worth of aid for Carina, Habagat victims
Over P200 million worth of assistance was distributed to the victims of Typhoon Carina and enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Monday.
“As we speak, close to a million family food packs na po ang na release ng DSWD not only to the National Capital Region but also includes Region III, CAR, Region I, Region II, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and Region V,” Irene Dumlao, spokesperson of DSWD Disaster Response and Management Group, said in a public briefing.
The DSWD logged at least 153,000 affected families in Pampanga, 500,000 families in Bulacan, and 171,000 families in Bataan.
“Since we are at the response phase, mga family food packs at non-food items pa yung initial pa nating ipinapahatid na tulong,” Dumlao said.

DSWD will also help Carina-affected victims financially through its Cash for Work Program, Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation Program, and Emergency Cash Transfer during the recovery phase, Dumlao said.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 3,628,500 individuals in over 3,000 barangays nationwide were affected by the Carina-enhanced Habagat.
Of the figures, most of the affected residents are from Central Luzon, Bangsamoro, Soccsksargen, and Ilocos Region. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
